Dates:
1938-1939
Location:
Trenton, Jones County
Street Address:
101 Market St.
Status:
Standing
Type:
Public
Note:
Typical of public buildings of its era, the two-story edifice presents a blend of Colonial Revival design elements with Art-Moderne streamlining. The walls display Flemish bond brickwork above a limestone veneered basement, accented by such simplified classical motifs as the broad, plain limestone pilasters, pediments, and cornices. Funding from the Works Progress Administration contributed $75,000 to the overall $105,000 cost of construction.
