Note:
An 1882 report by the Craven County Commissioners stated that Sloan and Balderston supplied the working drawings and had the cells and other items for the construction of the jail made in Philadelphia. The construction was “under the immediate supervision of Mr. John B. Lane, master builder and architect of this city” (Sandbeck, New Bern).
