Note:

The antebellum Granite Mill (built of brick) stands at the heart of the community that took its name for its position on the Haw River. The mill was developed by the Trollinger family and later expanded by the Holt family, who also erected additional factories. The Granite Mill of the 1840s is relatively intact, the only one of the antebellum cotton mills of Alamance County still standing.
