Note:

At Glencoe, Davidson wrote that he had “built the flume and penstock and placed the water-wheel, shafting, and some of the machinery in Glencoe Cotton Mills for W. E. and J. H. Holt on Haw River, about four miles North of Burlington.” The mill village and complex survive in remarkably intact condition. Davidson did not mention—nor is it known—who built the towered, brick cotton mill or the houses in the village. The small mill village, largely intact, has been rehabilitated for new life in a model project by Preservation North Carolina.
