Note:
Built for wealthy South Carolinian Alexander Robertson, the Greek Revival house was noted for its fine, curving stair as photographed by Frances Benjamin Johnston. The detailing indicates that the treatment of the stair was, like many others in the state, inspired by a stair design published in Owen Biddle’s Young Carpenter’s Assistant.
