Note:
The Chapel Hill Daily Tar Heel of February 12, 1931, carried a long description of the bell tower, for which the contract had recently been awarded to T. C. Thompson Brothers. It noted the interior of the first-level arcade would have “a finish of Guastavino tile vaulting.”
