According to the Pinehurst National Historic Landmark report, the 2-story, wood-shingled house of Colonial Revival style was built in 1925 as an “ideal house” in Pinehurst to showcase “the type and quality of work that could be achieved locally. Various trade and building concerns active in and about Pinehurst erected the house in a cooperative venture. The house remained open for public viewing during the 1925-1926 season and was then sold to J. Frank Black.” It was also known as “Nandina.”
