New Bern’s Daily Journal of April 29, 1890 reported, “A handsome dwelling house is being erected on the lot on George street, near Pollock, for Mrs. W. H. Pennell, of Philadelphia. Mr. George Bishop is the contractor.” This house has not been identified, and it is unlikely that it is still standing.
