The house has been generally dated 1871, but the 1873 newspaper article suggests an 1873 date. Emma Holt White was a daughter of E. M. Holt. The Italianate style house features a symmetrical façade with a central entrance pavilion and decorative millwork akin to the pattern books of A. J. Bicknell. It has similarities with the L. Banks Holt House and the Lawrence Holt House elsewhere in Alamance County, which may also be Denny’s work.
