According to a family history and recollections prepared by Georgie Brewer Tilley, a granddaughter of Stephen and Catherine Brewer, the Brewers employed newcomer Bennett Nooe to build their family home. It is believed to be the first house he built in Pittsboro. Thomas Hackney was identified as the foreman in charge of the project.
